	AAA Baseball Managers and Assistant Coaches Needed

If you are interested in being a Manager or Assistant Coach (please specify which) of a AAA team this year please contact Mike Barston at mbarston@optonline.net or 656-3480.

Some quick facts about our AAA Baseball League:

Primarily comprised of 3rd graders who played AA Baseball last season.
The Regular Season runs from April 18 to June 5, 2009.
Round Robin playoffs run from June 6 to June 21.
There are usually two games per week--one weeknight game (starting at 5:30) and one weekend game (various times).
Most managers hold one team practice per week.
It is the League's objective to team each manager with at least one strong Assistant Coach. In addition a DLL Board member will be designated as a "Buddy" for any guidance the AAA manager may need during the season. So, you will definitely have plenty of help if you want it.
AAA Manager selections are made by the DLL Board, based on baseball knowledge and prior experience with the League.

	2009 Babe Ruth Season and Clinic Registration - Now Open

Darien Babe Ruth is now registering players for the 2009 Spring Season. In addition, in preparation for the Spring Season, Babe Ruth, in conjunction with Darien High School baseball, is offering a 10 week winter clinic program through IST Baseball in Norwalk.

Registration for the Spring Season will be open from November 26, 2008 to January 15, 2009. Late fees will apply after January 15, 2009. To register, please visit the Darien Baseball website here and follow the instructions for online registration. Questions concerning registration can be submitted to David Smelser at .

Registration for the 2009 Winter Clinics in now open, but space is limited so please register for the clinics as soon as possible. Forms for registering for the clinics can be found on the website under the BR Documents section, here.

The necessary registration forms will need to be downloaded and mailed to IST Baseball in Norwalk. Questions concerning these clinics can be submitted to Robert Maley at or to Ken Southworth at

	LL Baseball and Softball Clinics Registration Now Open Online

Registration is now available online for Little League Baseball and Softball Clinics for Winter 2009. The clinics are always very popular and are a great way to prepare for the upcoming season.

For Baseball, the clinics are available to players who anticipate playing in AAA, Minors and Majors this season. To learn more about Baseball clinics, click here.

For Softball, clinics are available to players who anticipate playing Minors, Majors or Juniors this season. To learn more about Softball clinics, click here.

Please note: Clinic registration is separate from the actual Spring Little League Baseball and Softball registration. Registration for the Spring season is still open and will run until December 31^st for returning players.

	Spring 2009 Little League Registration Now Open

Online Registration for Darien Little League Baseball and Softball players for the Spring 2009 season is now open. From the Little League website home page (www.dybs.org), click on the Register Online button on the left hand side of the page and follow the steps. It is important that you pay online before exiting, or else the registration is not final.

For returning players, registration runs until December 31, after which a late fee will be charged. Detailed descriptions of the different league and division breakdowns are located here for baseball and here for softball.

For new players, registration runs until January 31, 2009, after which a late fee is charged. Players must at least be in Kindergarten to play in Little League. New players must register online and also must come in person to McGuane Fieldhouse to verify age and Darien residency on either January 11th or January 14^th.

Depending on your child’s league, you may need to attend a tryout in late January or early February, and details on those times can also be found on the website. Teams will be formed in February and March in preparation for practices and coaching clinics in March and the start of the season in April.
