DYBS Code of Conduct

One of the primary objectives of youth baseball and softball is to impart to the youth of our community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority.  To achieve this objective, all the youth baseball and softball leagues provide a supervised program of competitive baseball and softball instruction for all children which is designed to recognize that well-adjusted, stronger and happier youths most often develop into decent, healthy and trustworthy adults.
It is therefore incumbent upon each and every participant in the leagues -  from player to managers to coaches to umpires to parents of players to members of each league's respective Board of Directors and even spectators at events - to always remember their respective responsibilities in observing the following:

Code of Conduct
  • Participation in every league is a privilege, not a right, which requires the conduct of all participants to be above reproach
  • Development of the fundamental qualities of fairness, leadership, good sportsmanship and decency in the youth of the community must always assume a greater degree of importance than the winning of games
  • All participants must be sensitive to the mental and physical limitations of children in the program and recognize that the game is a vehicle of training and enjoyment, not an end in itself
  • Under no circumstances will any physical or verbal abuse, harassment, humiliation, discrimination or punishment of any participant or volunteer in the program be tolerated
  • Vandalism or reckless use of any property is unacceptable.  Any violation of this Code of Conduct and/or the rules of Darien Little League, Darien Babe Ruth League or Darien American Legion will be immediately referred to the Board of Directors of the respective league for appropriate action
